Michelle has proudly served as YCSA's first Executive Director for ten years. Under her leadership, YCSA has become a respected and valued partner in our community.
With Social Justice as a theme throughout her career, Michelle's areas of expertise include HIV/AIDS, Addictions, Minority Health Disparities, Women's Health, and, High-Risk Youth. Understanding the forces and systems that shape the conditions of people's daily lives has guided her work. Identifying the social determinants of health - the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age - has been an outline of how to successfully implement programs and change to better the lives of those in need.
Michelle and Wally Schauer enjoy their three grown-up children and their families, which include five grandchildren. Her grandmother names are Grammy, Grannie, and Honey.
